HON. GEORGE AGYIRI INSPECTS ONGOING DREDGING OF RIVER KWAMA.
The Municipal Chief Executive of Wassa Amenfi West, *Hon. George Agyiri* yesterday, Wednesday, 11th March, 2020 inspected the ongoing dredging of the Kwama River in ASANKRANGWA.
The dredging of River Kwama is to remove accumulated debris, pollutants and trash that have gathered from the bottom, banks and sides of the river to allow for easy flow of water during the raining seasons. The dredging has been necessitated to preserve the natural flow of the river to reduce the potential of a likely disaster occurring and also to avoid flooding during the rainy seasons.
The Kwama River last year precisely October, 5th, 2019, over flooded it’s bank’s rendering hundreds homeless. Several lives could have been lost and more casualties recorded had it not been similar dredging activity at portions of the Kwama stretch embarked on by Hon. Agyiri
When the dredging of the full stretch of the Kwama River is completely executed; the perennial flooding of parts of Asankrangwa, will undeniably be a thing of the past. Lives and properties will undoubtedly be saved and the people of Asankrangwa will for the first time be able sleep in peace and with all soundness of mind during the night even in the rainy season .
The project is fully sponsored by the Wassa Amenfi West Municipal Assembly with support from *CEO -GIFEC/NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Amenfi West, Hon. Abraham Kofi Asante.*
