Man City vs Arsenal postponed: Fans react to latest coronavirus outbreak fears.
Manchester City’s game with Arsenal on Wednesday has been postponed as a precautionary measure due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The Premier League has postponed the match between Manchester City and Arsenal on Wednesday after Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis tested positive for coronavirus. Mr Marinakis had sat near Arsenal staff and had come into contact with a number of Gunners stars after their Europa League match two weeks ago.
Both clubs released statements confirming the Premier League’s decision to postpone tonight’s game had been taken as a precautionary measure on medical advice.
City wished Mr Marinakis a “speedy recovery” while advising fans not to travel to Etihad Stadium for the fixture.
Meanwhile, Arsenal confirmed they have identified the players who had come into close contact with Marinakis and that they are now following the Government guidelines, which recommend that anyone coming into close contact with someone with the Covid-19 virus should self-isolate at home for 14 days from the last time they had contact.
This means Wednesday would mark the last day of the 14 day period in which Arsenal staff and players would need to self-isolate
However, fans were quick to react to the news that the fixture has been postponed, with many venting their frustration that the club’s are overreacting.
One Arsenal fan took to Twitter to say: “What a joke, like really this is getting silly now. More people die from the flu.”
While another said: “This is preposterous for the travelling gooner nation.”
